Tick Habitat
( High Grass)
Materials- one wooden stick (1meter), white cloth (33.4 inches), 3zip ties, one long string Questions- Would we find more ticks on in the high grass? We thought we would find ticks in the high grass area because they are more commonly found. |
( Dry Not Sunny Area)
Materials- one wooden stick (1meter), white cloth (33.4 inches), 3zip ties, one long string Questions- Would we find more ticks in the dry not sunny area? We didn't think we would find as many ticks in the dry areas because ticks seem to like grassy areas where there are many mammals. |
Where would we find the most ticks?
Procedure
- Step #1- We measured the wooden sticks and the white cloths as well as the rope that we use to tie everything together
- Step #2- Once we had everything put together we went in to the woods to find two aeras that we thought would be the best fit to find the most ticks
- Step #3- Once we found a high grass and dry aera we begain to setup
- Step #4- Next we pasted 32 steps and begain to drag the white cloth at a slow rate
- Step #5- We drged the white cloth about 4 times and at every stop we would check if we found any ticks

Conclusion
In conclusion didn't find any ticks in the high grass aera. We thought that because of the rain the ticks might have feld out.
In the dry aera we found one tick on the first sweep and on the second sweep we found four. During the last two sweeps we found a large amount of ticks that we couldnt keep track.

What could we have done different.
What we could have done different is have another wooden stick at both ends of the white cloth. This would help the ticks stick but not unstick from the cloth.
