“In biology, nothing is clear, everything is too complicated, everything is a mess, and just when you think you understand something, you peel off a layer and find deeper complications beneath. Nature is anything but simple.” Richard Preston, The Hot Zone
Question: What effect does pH have on bacteria in different environments?
Example: Running water, Still water, Shade, Sun, and Pig vs. Fish.
Information to find:
1.Potato Microbes of fish bacteria to identify different bacteria that pH might affect
2. pH of Running Water vs. Still water and effects on Decomposition/Microbes
3. pH of the same soil samples from the Microbes Lab to see if there is a correlation between pH and growth of Bacteria

1.Kasmir Grapski is a senior at Lawrence High School who plans on attending college to further her education in the teaching field. She plans on getting a degree in early childhood and minoring in something science related. She is currently the founder and president of The Geological Society at her school and plans to take her knowledge that she has accumulated from the STEM Teacher Academy in the near future in the classroom.
2.Simran Chadha is an upcoming senior at Lawrence High School. She is planning to attend college to study biology. She is thinking of majoring in biology or going into the field of medical sciences. She has gained valuable information from STEM in the world of biology.
3.Cindy DeLeon is a Senior at Lawrence High School who plans on attending college to further her studies in the sciences. She plans on taking a Pre-Med track with a major in Biology, a minor in Spanish, and eventually continuing on to Medical school. The STEM Teacher Academy has provided her with new ideas and different ways of thinking.
4.Alexis Snedeker is a senior at Lawrence high. She plans on going to college for early childhood special education, and minoring in something science related, such as zoology or anthropology. In the meantime, she plans on using the knowledge she gained from the STEM academy in her job teaching at Schafer's Gymnastics.
